Friesian Horse Calendar
The Friesian Horse Calendar Foundation in action for cancer research has now released four calendars with Friesian horses. These have been sold worldwide and have raised no less than 60,000 euros for cancer research. The money has gone directly to research projects for lung and breast cancer selected by the Foundation itself. With this, the Foundation hopes to ensure that more people can survive cancer.

It is heartwarming how many people have selflessly contributed to the various projects. The Friesian horse has always been central to these. The Foundation can now draw on a large collection of beautiful photos of Frisian horses that it wants to use to develop other products than a calendar in order to continue to raise money for cancer research.

The reason was the death of Frisian horse lover Marga de Wolff from a rare form of lung cancer in early 2019. She was only 37 years old. Shortly after Marga’s death, her good friend Sabien Zwaga also had to fight metastatic breast cancer. Then sister Marjon Zwaga was diagnosed with a rare form of breast cancer. Fortunately, they were allowed to survive, but they felt the strong urge to do something about this terrible disease in memory of Marga. Together with Louwrens Mellema, Marga’s life partner, and horse photographer Laura Dijkslag, they have realized these projects.
